Let’s get cooking!

Plate with stir-fried beef, steamed broccoli and fluffy basmati rice – a quick and healthy homemade meal idea.

Serves 4

Ingredients:

For the beef:

• 500 g beef (sirloin or rump steak), sliced into thin strips

• 2 garlic cloves, finely chopped

• 20 g fresh ginger, grated

• 30 ml soy sauce

• 1 tablespoon olive oil

• Black pepper to taste

For the rice:

• 250g basmati rice

• 500ml water

• Salt to taste

For the broccoli:

• 300 g fresh broccoli

• Salt to taste

• Water for boiling

Preparation:

1. Marinate the beef:

In a bowl, combine the beef strips with chopped garlic, grated ginger, soy sauce and black pepper. Let it marinate while you prepare the rice and broccoli.

2. Cook the rice:

Rinse the rice thoroughly until the water runs clear.

In a saucepan, add the rice, water and salt. Bring to a boil, then cover and reduce to a low heat. Cook for 10–12 minutes until the water is absorbed. Remove from heat and let it sit, covered, for another 5 minutes.

3. Boil the broccoli:

Cut the broccoli into florets and cook in salted boiling water for 4–5 minutes, until tender but still bright green. Drain well.

4. Stir-fry the beef:

Heat the olive oil in a pan or wok over high heat. Stir-fry the beef for 5–7 minutes until fully cooked and slightly caramelised.

5. Assemble the dish:

Serve the rice with the stir-fried beef and steamed broccoli on the side. Enjoy!

Extra tip:

Sprinkle toasted sesame seeds over the beef before serving to add a crunchy, aromatic finish.
