Peru on a Plate: Highlights From Our Culinary Journey

Hello everyone!

The week is almost over, and all we can think about now is the upcoming weekend!
And as if that weren’t enough, we also have a new Pope — someone who lived and worked in this country for many years!

All of this has reminded me of our trip last year.
Almost exactly one year ago, we set off on our journey to Peru! We spent nearly three weeks there and absolutely loved it — the vibrant cities, the incredibly kind people, and, of course, the delicious food.

Although it was tough to choose, we picked a few of our favorite dishes from the trip that we’d love to share with you.

Hope you enjoy it!

Ceviche frito

At the restaurant Huaca Pucllana, we tried the fried ceviche!
I really enjoyed the dish — everything was incredibly fresh and full of flavour.

Ají de Gallina

We tried the famous Ají de Gallina at Isolina restaurant in Lima.
It was ranked the 12th on Latin America’s 50 Best Restaurants list in 2019.

Cuy frito

In Arequipa, we tried cuy — guinea pig!
It’s one of the city’s traditional dishes, and we had it at La Nueva Palomino restaurant.

Alpaca

Alpaca is a highly valued meat in Peru!
We tried it in several restaurants, but our favorite was at Zig Zag. We had the classic meat trio, cooked on a volcanic stone.

Causa Limeña

We had a cooking class where we made Causa Limeña!
It was absolutely delicious.

Maido Restaurant

On one of the last nights, we had the chance to try one of the best restaurants in the world! We absolutely loved the food!

Lady Bee

To finish, here is one of the best cocktails we’ve ever tried!
It’s currently ranked No. 16 on the World’s 50 Best Bars list for 2024.
